Where your generosity is most needed today
Women's health
Expanding care for women is a cornerstone of Capital Medical Center. Community support sustains and grows a robust offering of services — from breast health to metabolic wellness to urogynecology — so women have a health care destination designed to meet their needs.
Helping Hands
This special fund is at the heart of compassionate, community-based health care. Donor dollars help patients in need by removing financial barriers — like meals, transportation, medication and medical equipment — so they can focus on healing.
Behavioral health
Through a commitment to whole person health, which includes mental health, community generosity helps integrate therapy into primary care, increase access to substance use disorder treatment and cover costs that may interfere with recovery.
Doing more for women’s health in Thurston County
In July 2023, MultiCare Capital Women’s Integrated Primary Care opened — with generous donor support — to provide a medical home for the region’s women. Today, the clinic is already making a lasting difference for patients.
The launch of a women’s metabolic wellness program now provides women a space to gather, where community, education and health intertwine. Joan Francis joined the first ever cohort and discovered a new perspective on her own health journey.
“It has changed me,” she reflects. “It’s made me more determined to do what I need to do and given me steps to do it.”

About MultiCare Capital Foundation
-
In the late 1970s, Angela J. Bowen, MD, saw a need for more accessible health care for women and their families. As a longtime Olympia resident and dedicated provider, she spearheaded a campaign to bring a second hospital to the area — Capital Medical Center.
MultiCare purchased Capital Medical Center in 2021, investing in significant infrastructure improvements and making it a nonprofit hospital for the first time in its history.
Today, we remain committed to Dr. Bowen’s vision of locally based, exceptional care that puts patients and families first. MultiCare Capital Foundation formed to support MultiCare Capital Medical Center, expanding patient access and improving the quality of care in and around Thurston County.
With the help of donor generosity, we’ve opened MultiCare Capital Women’s Integrated Primary Care to provide a medical home for local women, launched a centering pregnancy program to improve newborn health, expanded primary care options and invested in more urgent and emergency care facilities.
Through the power of philanthropy, we’re building a healthier community for all.
