Rehabilitation Services
Empowering restorative recovery
When a serious injury or illness strikes — like a stroke or trauma to the brain, spinal cord or other major system — rehabilitative care plays a crucial role in healing. For over 70 years, Good Samaritan Regional Rehabilitation Center has helped patients increase independence, restore function and prevent complications on their recovery journey.
Today, the center’s physicians, nurses and therapists are among the most experienced and respected in the Pacific Northwest. Treating both adolescents and adults, the Level 1 trauma rehab program offers the most extensive and comprehensive level of care available in Washington state.
Rehabilitation services are a lifeline for individuals in crisis, providing a safe, personalized road back to a “new normal.” This type of care, however, isn’t always covered by insurance — particularly for those requiring more intensive physician intervention, 24-hour rehab nursing care and a combination of therapies.
Fortunately, community generosity can bridge gaps in coverage, support health education and fund critical equipment essential for healing. Last year, donations to MultiCare Good Samaritan Foundation helped renovate the center’s apartment unit, encouraging patients to rebuild their daily skills and better prepare for life after discharge.
Erv Severtson was instrumental in shaping the program in the 1960s and later experienced this holistic approach firsthand as a patient. As a care recipient and former employee, Erv believes that a donation to the program is a life-changing investment.
“Rehab deals with the whole person as they deal with things that impact the whole being,” he explains. “Because these things require so much in specialized care and often long-term care, if a person wants their dollar to really count in changing lives, I can’t think of a better place to give to.”
