Pano Koumantaros Cancer Survivorship Program

Cancer survivors face lifelong health issues because of their treatment, and ongoing monitoring of their health is vital. Over 70 percent of childhood cancer survivors will have at least one significant chronic health condition related to their cancer treatment, and more than 40 percent of survivors will have a severe, disabling or life-threatening condition related to treatment.

The Pano Koumantaros Cancer Survivorship Program at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital  helps children and families plan for and mitigate chronic and long-term impacts of cancer treatment. Through individualized treatment plans, clinical staff work with the child and family to schedule future appointments and diagnostic tests, and align long term care plans with national recommendations for care.

While insurance does cover some of the costs associated with the program, the unmet cost of care is approximately $1,500 per patient. Your contributions can ensure that every survivor has a care plan to manage the long-term impacts of cancer treatment and to thrive into adulthood.
