As a child, Brian* was neglected, abused and subsequently removed from his birth mother’s home. Even after he was adopted, scars from his childhood trauma were still present well into adolescence. He tried to end his life several times.
Thankfully, Brian received treatment through the Navos Sunstone program, part of the MultiCare Behavioral Health Network, which offers residential treatment for youth 13 to 17 years old. The trauma-informed treatment at Navos focuses on stabilization and skill development with the goal of reintegrating youth back into their homes, families, communities or long-term supportive environments.
Through his treatment, Brian increased his self-esteem and his daily mood, met his goal of decreasing suicidal thoughts and continued to work through his childhood trauma supported by the youth residential services program.
